The biggest difference is the time required to complete the degree. Bachelor's degrees can be completed in 4 years of full-time study and associate degrees are designed to be completed in about half that time.
Some industries/careers may require a bachelor's or higher, but many can be entered with an associate degree or diploma, depending on the industry/career.
